The Korea Institute of Fusion Energy (KFE) is hosting the 41st International Tokamak Physics Activity Pedestal & Edge Physics Meeting (ITPA PEP Meeting) at the institute from April 24th to 28th, for a duration of five days.

ITPA is a research group comprised of fusion researchers from ITER project member countries. It plays a leading role in advancing research cooperation and studying tokamak plasma physics to ensure the successful operation of ITER.

ITPA is composed of a total of seven groups, each with a specific research focus on plasma physics. Among them, the Pedestal and Edge Physics (PEP) group focuses on uncovering the physics of the edge region of nuclear fusion plasma.

At the meeting, over 40 fusion researchers from around 10 countries, such as Germany, the United States, and Japan, from various research institutes and universities will attend and present their research progress. Presentations will also be given on joint experimental results from major fusion research facilities worldwide and the latest research findings in related fields. These presentations will serve as the basis for discussions on reorganizing future research directions and exploring future prospects.

President of KFE, Dr. Suk Jae Yoo stated, "We welcome researchers from around the world who are dedicated to achieving the successful operation of ITER and the realization of fusion energy. KFE will also continue to strive to resolve challenges in plasma physics through relevant KSTAR research."
