Previously, the two institutes had signed a cooperation agreement focused on research related to diagnostic devices in 2019, including collaboration on magnetic diagnostics and inner wall components of tokamak devices. This agreement concluded in July 2024, and both institutes agreed to establish a new MOU, expanding their partnership beyond diagnostics to cover a broader range of fusion energy research areas.
